For my illustrations for my pirate feature, I called upon my friend Matt, who has just graduated from Falmouth University in Animation. I described to him that the illustrations I wanted were to be sketched and have a watercolour effect and perhaps have colours out of the line, to give the illustrations a more alternative and artsy feel. Many children’s magazine have a generic cartoony feel to their illustrations, but our group decided to have something a little different.
I am about to write up a kid’s news story about the Thalattoarchon saurophagis fossil which was found Nevada and is alledged to be the size of a bus. I think this will make a good news story for kids as sea monsters are interesting, and I will involve a lot of cool facts and figures about it. I will also be using Matt again for the illustrations (I really cannot draw), and have given him the task of sketching the creature and a bus. I will be using photographs of the creature’s fossil and teeth for a more real effect too.
